Fraser Leonard Fine Art Gallery Opening In New Melle | Arts & Culture
Award-winning contemporary artist Fraser Leonard will be opening his own Fine Art Gallery at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 3611 Schutzen Street, in New Melle, Missouri - a small suburban township west of St. Louis located in St. Charles County.
Fraser’s artwork has been exhibited in many galleries and art spaces in St. Louis and across the United States, but this is the first gallery of this own. Leonard’s latest sculptures and paintings will debut at his new Gallery, when this location opens to the public on August 25. The artist will provide remarks at 6:00 pm, during the Gallery’s Opening Reception.
Leonard’s paintings are acrylic, often enhanced by gold and silver leaf and holograms. His works are uplifting and fun; they are truly Art for Your Spirit and Your Life. He also creates metal sculptures that are 3-dimentional, and many are wall hangings suitable for both residential and corporate settings. While many of his artistic creations will be on display within his new Gallery space, most of his work can also be viewed at www.fraserleonard.com.
Fraser Leonard has received many distinguished awards over the course of his career, commencing in 1965 when he received the “Top Purchase Award” at the Arkansas Arts Festival, and then again in 1966. In 1970 he won the “Top Purchase Award” at the 40th Annual Ten-State Exhibition in Springfield, Missouri. His painting – Naked Function, a diptych – was purchased by the Springfield Art Museum, where it remains on exhibit in their auditorium. Fraser has won many prestigious awards – including “Best of Show” honors – and he has presented numerous one-man shows in Atlanta, Palm Beach, St. Louis, among other locations.
Many of his works are in private collections in St. Louis, Atlanta, Little Rock, as well as Germany and Thailand. Fraser Leonard holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas and his graduate work was completed at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois.
The new Fraser Leonard Fine Art Gallery is adjacent to the Wine Garden in the adjoining courtyard, owned and operated by Diane and Ernie Arteaga. Because of their close proximity to the St. Charles County wine areas of Augusta and Defiance on the Missouri Weinstrasse trail, both owners anticipate that the Fraser Leonard Fine Art Gallery and the Wine Garden will become a unique destination for art and wine lovers alike.
