St. Peters To Host Annual Gateway Games

ST. PETERS, MO. (KTVI) – The Disabled Athletes Sports Association will be hosting its annual Gateway Game Competition in St. Peters this weekend.  The competition will be held on May 18th and 19th at the St. Peters Rec Plex and St. Charles West High School.

Competitions will be held in field & track, swimming and archery.

Athletes from across the Midwest will be competing to qualify for The National Junior Disability Championships, to be later this summer.

Old Time Picnic Planned For Children At Old State Capitol

ST. CHARLES, MO. (KTVI) – Missouri State Parks will host an old time picnic for children at the state’s first capital in St. Charles, Missouri on Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Visitors will be transported back in time to an era when children had three-legged sack races, egg on a spoon relays, milk bottle ring and bean bag toss and finding a needle in a hay stack.

The event will also feature watermelon seed spitting contest, horseshoe throwing and pie baking.

The old capitol is located at 200 South Main Street in St. Charles.

Lake St. Louis To Host Memorial Day Observance

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – The City of Lake St. Louis will be holding a Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 27th at 11:00 am.  The memorial will be held at the Lake St. Louis Veteran’s Memorial Park, next to the city hall, at I-64 and Lake St. Louis Boulevard.

The ceremony is open to the public and free of charge.  Seating is limited and the public is urged to bring their own lawn chairs.

As part of the ceremony to honor the nation’s war dead, the public will be offered the opportunity to support the memorial park by purchasing commemorative bricks and special U.S. POW/MIA flag photo.

Metro St. Louis Cinderella Project Sets Up at Mid Rivers Mall

Ben Trotter, 22, tried to organize an armful of glittery, beaded prom dresses by color at the Metro St. Louis Cinderella boutique in Mid Rivers Mall Tuesday.

Trotter was one of several students from the Art Institute of St. Louis in St. Charles who came out to help set up the boutique. During the next two weeks, girls who would not otherwise have the chance to go to prom will get to pick out a prom dress for free.

Should St. Charles Bring Back An Ice Skating Rink?

For two years, visitors to downtown St. Charles could take a spin on an ice skating rink in Frontier Park run by the city during the winter months. 

The city shut down the rink after the 2010 season due to cost concerns, but some members of the community are hoping to see it return.

St. Charles Woman Wins FBI Recognition

Tuesday, Dean C. Bryant, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI St. Louis Division, presented the 2012 Director's Community Leadership Award to Kimberly Ritter, of St. Charles, at a surprise ceremony. Ritter was honored for her efforts to protect children from sex trafficking.
