O'Fallon Man Honors Veterans With Special Mustang | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Scott Lewis from O’Fallon, Missouri created a special “photo-enriched” car to salute veterans across the United States entitled The American Spirit.
Lewis spent $80,000 and two years of his time creating the car. He completely took apart, refurbished and reconditioned a 1971 Mustang Mach I fastback.
Several members of the Lewis family served in the military, including his wife, father and grandfather. He designed the car to honor them as well as all who have served in the military.
The graphics on the Mustang portray the history of American war veterans going all the way back to the American Revolution. Scott worked with a graphic designer that meticulously put together images from Scott’s photo collection and other sources. The front bumper also has a 14 karat gold inlay with the title “A Tribute to the American Soldier.”
“These are war heroes who did the job that needed to be done,” Lewis said. “We built this car to raise the awareness of those who sacrificed, so the rest of us can rest under the protection and security they provide.”
Lewis hopes to tour the country with the car and raise money for the Fisher House, an international non-profit organization which helps treat veterans suffering from trauma who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
