World Series Trophy Goes On Tour

World Series Trophy Goes On Tour

The World Series trophy made a return visit to St. Louis Thursday morning.  But, only for a little while.

The Commissioner's trophy was first given to the 1967 World-Series Champions: The St. Louis Cardinals.

"The Cardinals now have the oldest commissioner's trophy and the newest,' pointed out Bill Dewitt III, Cardinals President.

"This trophy doesn't just mean a lot to St. Louis.  It has a lot of meaning.  Soon, each and every last one of the flags that form a circle on the trophy is going to have the record of every team in Major League Baseball.  And, what looks like this baseball stitching is actually the longitude and latitude of the globe.

"It surely is a work of art, and it is I think one of the more unique trophies in sports,' Dewitt said.

The trophy will tour 53 U.S. Cellular locations across the midwest.  That is, after this year's debut in St. Louis.  Dewitt said he still cannot believe all this.
