St. Peters Offering New Programs And Classes At Rec-Plex

ST. PETERS, MO. (KTVI) – The City of St. Peters is offering new summer programs and fitness classes for the summer.  The programs cover the entire family, from toddlers to adults; Featuring men’s’ basketball league, softball leagues, t-ball, ice skating, hockey, swimming, aqua aerobics and group fitness classes.

The St. Charles County Council, at a special meeting Saturday morning, decided to stand by its original bill calling for a charter amendment in the form of a ballot proposition concerning a countywide ban on smoking in enclosed public places.

5,200 Free Gun Locks to be Given Away

Anyone desiring a free gun lock can head to one of the following St. Louis metropolitan locations on Thursday between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. A total of 5,200 gun locks are being made available by Project ChildSafe for giving away throughout the region, according to a Tuesday St. Louis County Police Department news release.

Two County Smoking Bans Could Be On November Ballot

St. Charles County voters may get the chance to vote on two different proposed smoking bans this fall, one of which is backed by Ameristar Casino, another proposed by a councilman.

County Councilman Joe Cronin, R-district 1, introduced a bill on Monday that puts the smoking ban before voters on the Nov. 6 ballot. His bill includes exemptions for casinos, private residences, private clubs with no employees and retail tobacco stores.

Local law enforcement agencies join forces to support community blood drives;

Maryland Heights, MO – Five local law enforcement agencies will partner with Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center later next week to provide a critical resource for patients at area hospitals. The FBI National Academy Associates Blood Drive will take place Monday, July 23 - Wednesday, July 25 at locations throughout the St. Louis area, including the St. Louis County & Municipal Police Academy and locations in Clayton, Overland, St. Charles and Creve Coeur (see p.2 for a complete schedule of events).

Help With Disaster Exercise, Get Chicken Sandwich

In the event of a large-scale biological attack or a natural disaster requiring the delivery of medical resources to the community, the St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment would institute a medication distribution plan in coordination with other regional entities.

The department asks for community participation in its exercise on Thursday, June 28 that will test the capabilities of staff and other regional partners in completing roles in this plan.
