Childcare Leaves Toddler At Chuck E. Cheese’s After Field Trip

ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) – A 2-year-old boy was left at Chuck E. Cheese’s by his childcare provider after a field trip, according to the St. Charles Police Department.

He and 14 other children under five years old were taken to Chuck E. Cheese’s by two women who work for Rich & Little Daycare in Moline Acres, according to police.

Witnesses said the boy was left by the women and that he wandered around for about two hours.

“He was asking people to play, and saying that he did not know where his teachers were,” witness Jessica Eaton said. “Then the employees started trying to help make him happy by giving him coins to play games and food.”

The St. Charles Police Department and officials with Social Services were called to the scene. Police said employees at Chuck e. Cheese’s handled the situation “perfect.”

However, witnesses were not so kind to the childcare employees.

Goldenrod Showboat Up For Auction

KAMPSVILLE, IL (KTVI) – The historic Goldenrod Showboat may be headed for the scrap heap.

After decades entertaining riverfront visitors in St. Louis and St. Charles, the 104-year-old boat will be sold Saturday to the highest bidder.

“It’s really in bad shape right now,” said Jacob Medford, 22, who lives in Jerseyville but has been volunteering to look after the boat, which is docked in Kampsville, Illinois, about 40 miles north of Alton, Illinois.

The Goldenrod Showboat has had a lot of owners, but these days it belongs to the Historic Riverboat Preservation Association, a not-for-profit group which has been trying, unsuccessfully to raise the money needed to restore the boat.

The problem is the group also does not have the money needed to pay the almost $70,000 in storage fees and other expenses owed to the owners of Pool 24, the dock where she has been parked since 2003.

Blanchette Bridge To Open 2 1/2 Months Early

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – There is good news when it comes to the progress of the new westbound Blanchette Bridge. MoDOT says the work on the new bridge is coming along so well that it`s now slated to open two and a half months ahead of schedule.

This is not only good news for the thousands of motorists who use the bridge every day, but for merchants along Main Street in old St. Charles it means no more detours for a lot of their customers trying to get here.

Crews installed the last major piece of structural steel for the new westbound bridge this week. Now crews are starting to pour concrete for the new driving surface.

Since March, crews have installed 2,200 pieces of steel on the bridge. That comes out to eight million pounds.
