From High School Dropout To Missouri-Recognized Top Educator

Dr. Debra Peppers was a high-school dropout and troubled youth who overcame the many obstacles in her path to achieve tremendous success as a teacher. She earned a doctorate, induction into the Teacher Hall of Fame, and eventually taught on the masters level.

Visiting schools all over the world has allowed her to share her insights through many cultures. Most recently, Dr. Peppers founded pepperseed.org to help motivate others to overcome their obstacles and achieve success.

Tuesday, Dean C. Bryant, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI St. Louis Division, presented the 2012 Director's Community Leadership Award to Kimberly Ritter, of St. Charles, at a surprise ceremony. Ritter was honored for her efforts to protect children from sex trafficking.

Hannegan is making a difference by sharing what he loves about his community. The magazine is committed to spotlighting ordinary people with extraordinary stories. Tom's  passion to publish a positive community based St. Charles magazine has extended to events like St. Charles Fashion Week and Beyond the Sest in Business Leaders Awards. The name  of the magazine was inspired by the cobblestone streets of historic Main Street St. Charles .

 The stories highlight some of the biggest names in businessm, sports and entertainment .Also featuring just ordinary people doing amazing things. "We give an opportunity not only to celebrities but to the local people. I think stories we do on the local people are just as good as the famous people, " said Hannegan.

St. Charles 106 House Seat Race: Sommer Raises More than Albert

Republican State Rep. Chrissy Sommer has raised four times as much as her primary opponent in the race to win the new 106th State House of Representatives seat. 

Sommer, 44, won a special election in 2011 for the 15th House of Representatives seat, which was vacated by St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith.

Interim Police Chief to Evaluate Policing Model for City

Interim Police Chief Larry Stulce will spend the next few months evaluating the Police Department's organization and consider a possible return to participating in the St. Charles County's SWAT team. 

Stulce was hired in May for a six-month period while the city conducts a search for a replacement police chief.

Nixon Visit St. Charles, Touts Tax Deduction for Job Creation

Gov. Jay Nixon stopped at the Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday as part of his statewide tour to promote bipartisan efforts at job creation.   

Nixon spoke briefly to a small crowd about House Bill 1661, a bill which provides a tax deduction for businesses that create new jobs in the next two years.
