Help Your Community During Clean Stream Day

Help Your Community During Clean Stream Day

You can make a positive impact on our community in one single morning during Clean Stream Day on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011. Help the City of St. Peters clean portions of Spencer Creek and tributaries to Dardenne Creek during this annual event.

Trash can harm habitat and wildlife, plus cause creek bank erosion and possibly flooding. The City of St. Peters hosts Clean Stream Day for families, organizations and individuals wanting to contribute to healthier streams and a better community.

Advance registration is required to volunteer for Clean Stream Day. Register to volunteer online at www.stpetersmo.net, or call 636.477.6600, ext. 1204.

Swimming Classes Are Year-Round at Rec-Plex

Swimming Classes Are Year-Round at Rec-Plex

There’s no need to hide your swimsuits in a drawer once those outdoor pools close. The St. Peters Rec-Plex offers a variety of swimming classes throughout the year for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. New swimming classes are starting again in September.

Learn-to-swim classes at the Rec-Plex are available for kids as young as 6 months as well as for adults who need help in the water. Classes help beginners adapt to the water and learn some basic swimming skills. Students learn more as they progress through several levels of learn-to-swim classes. Adults can take a class to help overcome fear of the water and learn to stay afloat in deeper water.

For kids ages 5-10 who are interested in competitive swimming, the Rec-Plex also offers a Swim Team Prep class. For swimmers who want to develop their strokes, private swim lessons are also available through the Rec-Plex.

Jungermann Resurfacing Project Moved To Aug. 1-5

Jungermann Resurfacing Project Moved To Aug. 1-5

A resurfacing project on Jungermann Road from Mexico Road to Bartley Street is now scheduled to begin on Monday Aug. 1, 2011. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete by Friday, Aug. 5.

The project was expected to take place this week but was delayed due to an equipment malfunction. A large piece of machinery that removes existing asphalt is being repaired.

Drivers can expect daily lanes closures and travel delays while the surface of Jungermann Road is removed and a new asphalt surface is placed in this area south of Mexico Road. Please drive carefully through the work zone.

This paving project is part of the City of St. Peters’ annual street maintenance program. For more information about St. Peters street maintenance, click here: www.stpetersmo.net

RV Parking Moratorium Lifted, Effective Aug. 1

RV Parking Moratorium Lifted, Effective Aug. 1

Effective Aug. 1, 2011, the City of St. Peters will lift the moratorium allowing for the parking of recreational vehicles on residential lots.

The RV parking restriction was waived because many RV storage areas and boat docks were affected by flooding along the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.

This moratorium originally began on April 25 and then was extended again after May 25. This temporary action did not allow parking recreational vehicles on streets.
