Board Divided on Hiring Former Splash Station Subcontractors

At last week's meeting of the Wentzville Board of Aldermen, the board voted to amend their contract with Gartenberg Construction Consulting for construction oversight of the Splash Station aquatic park project.

The new contract reduces the city's costs from $87,000 to $80,000 because of a reduced scope of services.

Church Buys Former St. Charles Police Station on West Clay

The former city police station on West Clay will soon have a second life as a church. 

Matthias' Lot, a Christian church that currently meets in downtown St. Charles, purchased the 20,000 square foot property located at 2645 West Clay in mid June for $600,000.

Business Briefs: Performing Arts Shop Hosts Grand Opening

Jewelry shop, Polish pottery shop open on Main Street.

Rhythm Music and Performing Arts held a grand opening celebration June 2. The shop, located at 3333-2 Rue Royale in New Town St. Charles, is run by Mike and Tammy Scott. The studio offers private and group music lessons and has piano classes, dance lessons and mommy and me classes.

St. Charles City Council Approves TIF for Lindenwood Town Center Project

St. Charles City Council approved a $9.6 million tax increment financing package for a 31.5 acre development anchored by a Schnucks across from Lindenwood University. 

The development, which is a joint project between Desco and Lindenwood University, will include several retail sites, restaurants, a hotel and room for relocation of the United States Post Office.
